Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the two top ranked players on the ATP Tour at the moment.

Alcaraz beat Sinner at Roland Garros, despite losing the first two sets of the five and a half hour Grand Slam final.

While this was a highly intense final, it does not appear that this match has impacted Alcaraz and Sinner’s relationship.

Alcaraz and Sinner have shared the last six Grand Slam titles, but the Spaniard does not believe they are the only contenders for future titles.

Alcaraz is now at Queen’s, where he is a former champion from 2023, to begin his grass court season.

When speaking in his pre-tournament press conference at the Queen’s Club Championships, Alcaraz was asked about potential challengers to himself and Sinner.

While he did not say this was an exclusive list, Alcaraz named Stuttgart finalist Alexander Zverev, as well as fellow young players Holger Rune and Arthur Fils as three potential threats.

“Well, I mean, right now, I know that there are a lot of people who are able to compete against everybody, against us, for sure,” said Alcaraz.

“I don’t know, some young players, I mean, Alex Zverev is always there, I mean, obviously, he’s been talking about himself and everybody knew that he’s struggling a little bit with his game, but he’s one of those players who are able to win everything, everything. I mean, everything he can.

“So, but I don’t know, I love some players that I’ve said before, I love watching Fils, for example, I think his potential is pretty high. Holger Rune, his potential is pretty high as well. But what I don’t know they are already there.

“So I think it’s about time to that they are gonna get closer and closer, but as I said, right now, I think the beautiful [thing] of tennis is that would have a lot of players who are able to make great results, to play great tennis, and right now, the draws are quite open.”

Although Alcaraz and Sinner have dominated Grand Slam tournaments over the past couple of years, Roland Garros was the first time they have played a major final against each other.

Sinner has won all of the last three hard court majors, while Alcaraz has dominated the Grand Slam tournaments on clay and grass.

Alcaraz has been the player to inflict two of Sinner’s last three defeats at Grand Slams, with former world number one Daniil Medvedev the other at Wimbledon last year.

While the aforementioned Zverev and Novak Djokovic have beaten Alcaraz in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.

The most surprising of these defeats came when Botic van de Zandschulp stunned Alcaraz in the second round of the US Open last year.

The next Grand Slam tournament on the horizon is Wimbledon, where Alcaraz is the two-time defending champion.

Alcaraz and Sinner will be the top two seeds at Wimbledon this year, which will get underway on Monday, June 30.
