Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently focused on the Monte Carlo Masters, but he has already looked ahead to beyond the French Open.

Tsitsipas has hired Goran Ivanisevic as his new coach, with the pair set to join forces after this year’s Roland Garros.

The clay court Grand Slam arrives late next month, with the likes of the Monte Carlo Masters, Madrid Open and Rome Open up first.

Tsitsipas has emulated Rafael Nadal in Monaco, having continued his impressive run at the ATP Masters 1000 event.

Greek star Tsitsipas, who is eighth in the ATP Tour rankings, has won the tournament in three of the last four years.

Boris Becker says Stefanos Tsitsipas hiring Goran Ivanisevic is ‘good news’

But Tsitsipas is seemingly keen on taking his game to the next level with the impending appointment of Ivanisevic, who has previously worked with Novak Djokovic.

The Croatian reached a career-high ranking of number two during his playing career, which involved winning Wimbledon in 2001.

His fellow legend Boris Becker has since taken to social media to react to the decision, writing on X: “Good news!”

A fan then commented: “Good fit. As long as Tsitsipas listens to Ivanisevic, to me he is one of the players who hasn’t yet reached more than 85% of his potential. When he is in motion and motivated… very hard to beat.”

Responding, Becker said: “That’s the key… communication between player and coach has to be on point!”

Tsitsipas and Ivanisevic will certainly have plenty to bond over in their early days, with the former reaching similar levels to the latter during his career so far.

The Greek star reached number three in the world rankings back in 2021, while he has managed to make two Grand Slam finals.

Stefanos Tsitsipas Grand Slam finals

His new coach Ivanisevic lost three Grand Slam finals – all at Wimbledon – before finally lifting the iconic trophy in London, with Tsitsipas losing two such finals so far.

But he certainly looks capable of having a promising clay season in 2025, which could soon be taken to another level under the watchful eye of the experienced Croatian.
