Bjorn Borg has one piece of advice for next Team Europe Laver Cup captain Yannick Noah

Bjorn Borg is leading Team Europe at the Laver Cup as captain for the final time, with the competition currently underway in Berlin.

Borg boasts four Laver Cup wins from six editions of the competition, with his old rival and Team World captain John McEnroe winning the other two.

McEnroe has predicted success for Andre Agassi, who will take over from his compatriot as captain for the 2025 Laver Cup.

Replacing the Swede at the competition in San Francisco meanwhile is Yannick Noah, who certainly has big shoes to fill.

Borg will certainly leave with many fantastic memories, having won the respect of many European stars over the years.

Both Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas praised Borg in the build-up to this year’s event, where there is plenty of pressure on the German given he is playing on home soil.

Frenchman Noah won’t have it easy away from home in San Francisco next year, although fortunately Borg is on hand to help ease the transition between captains.

“The important thing is he [has] to understand the players, to know the players, to feel the players,” Borg told the Laver Cup website. “I’m very happy that he’s here right now so I can explain many things to him.”

He added that there is one key piece of advice that Noah must adhere to at the Laver Cup: “Don’t lose – you have to win.”

The Team Europe stars will be desperate to learn as much as possible from Borg this week, with the Swedish icon having won a stunning 11 Grand Slam titles in his career.

But seven-time major winner McEnroe also has plenty of wisdom to depart on Team World for one last time.

The pair will be as competitive as ever, with their exciting battles over the years certain to have excited incoming captains Agassi and Noah.

Noah may want to go it alone in San Francisco, although Borg has suggested that he will still be on the scene this time next year.

“My heart is part of Laver Cup,” he added. “Laver Cup knows that, and I’m not going to miss it, because I’m going to be there, I’m going to be around.”
