Aryna Sabalenka has started her season in the best possible way, with the WTA number one winning the Brisbane International.

Sabalenka trained with Iga Swiatek last month, with the WTA duo certain to continue their exciting rivalry in 2025.

Swiatek finished second in the year-end rankings as Sabalenka took top spot, with WTA Finals champion Coco Gauff in third.

It was, however, the Pole who won more titles, with Swiatek winning five times in 2024 compared to the four triumphs of Sabalenka.

A similar rivalry has, of course, emerged on the ATP Tour in recent times between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Like Sabalenka, Alcaraz won four titles in 2024, but that was well behind the eight titles won by world number one Sinner.

Following their dominance, Sinner and Alcaraz have unsurprisingly featured heavily in predictions from a handful of female stars regarding which male player will win the most titles in 2025.

“If he’s healthy, Alcaraz,” Sabalenka told the WTA Tour, with Emma Navarro in disagreement, saying: “I’m going to go Sinner, he’s tough to beat.”

Sabalenka’s fellow WTA stars Ons Jabeur, Mirra Andreeva and Paula Badosa also shared their ATP predictions for the new season.

Predicting who will win the most titles, Jabeur said: “Maybe Sinner. He’s in a good shape and he’s playing very well.”

And Andreeva noted: “Obviously I want to say Sinner and Alcaraz, because that’s kind of the basics right now in tennis.

Badosa meanwhile remained loyal to her boyfriend, simply saying: “Stefanos Tsitsipas”, who won his only title of 2024 in Monte-Carlo.
