Andy Roddick has leapt to the defence of Iga Swiatek as her poor form continues.

The 23-year-old has yet to win a title in 2025 and she has suffered both surprising and heavy defeats this season.

This has continued on clay, as Swiatek lost 1-6, 1-6 to Coco Gauff in Madrid, before losing to Danielle Collins in Rome.

These results left many within the tennis world very surprised, including journalists from her home country of Poland, and Andy Roddick had a message for them.

What is Andy Roddick’s message for Polish journalists amid Iga Swiatek’s poor form?

At present Iga Swiatek is arguably the most vulnerable she has ever looked on court. The aura of invincibility she seemingly once had has disappeared, and her French Open title defence is in more jeopardy than ever before.

This has left her fellow Polish fans concerned and the media in her country have been more critical as a result of her dip in form, which Roddick says she has complained about.

As a result, the American used his ‘Served’ podcast to send a message to those in the Polish media who have criticised her, and he did not hold back.

“She complains about the Polish media. I’m sorry, if you are a sports journalist in Poland and you are crushing Iga on a week to week basis you are a f—— moron. You are. I’m sorry,” Roddick said.

“She is the greatest sports person you have ever had. Counter that to the Italian press giving Jannik a standing ovation when he walks into the press room, which is also ridiculous this week in Rome.

“If you are a Polish journalist and you are making Iga’s life really difficult and not throwing a parade every time she talks to you, you are a moron. It’s amazing.”

Andy Roddick assesses Iga Swaitek’s form and coaching partnership with Wim Fissette

Swiatek has not only failed to win a title since the 2024 French Open, but she has not reached a final since she lifted her fourth title in Paris.

During that time she lost the World number one ranking and changed coach, replacing Tomasz Wiktorowski with Wim Fissette.

Despite Fissette’s impressive track record, he has yet to guide Swiatek to any success, but Roddick believes the pair are actively searching for that winning formula.

“She is not playing that well. She is not playing that great,” Roddick added. “It’s weird – you mention the coaching change and it’s strange because it’s Wim Fissette.

“Before the show you know him as well regarded coach, you know that his track record is good and he has worked with a bunch of players.

“This guy has been doing some freaking work on the coaching side for 15 years so it’s an obvious play for her to hire Wim Fisette and it seems like they are searching for whatever reason.

“I do know that Iga is a Hall of Fame player and talent. Wim Fissette is that on the coaching side and they are searching. Such is sport, there is no scripts, you have to go out there and earn it every day.”
