Iga Świątek has ended three-year partnership with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski.

The World number one has found life difficult on the WTA Tour since winning her fourth French Open crown in June.

The Pole last played at the US Open, where she suffered defeat to the World number three Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals.

She has yet to make an appearance on the Asia swing and following her latest announcement it is clear so see why.

Following this announcement, the Wuhan Open announced that Iga Swiatek will not play at the upcoming WTA 1000 event as she adjusts to the change in her team.

“Unfortunately @iga_swiatek will not play in Wuhan this year,” the tournament wrote on X. “She is taking some time after making changes in her team. We will miss you Iga. See you next year.”

Other than a statement she released announcing that Swiatek had pulled out of the China Open, little had been heard from the World number one since she crashed out of the US Open.

But on Friday she took to social media platform Instagram to announce that she will no longer be coached by Tomasz Wiktorowski.

“Coach Wiktorowski joined my team for three seasons, when I strongly needed changes and a fresh approach to my game,” Swaitek began.

“His experience, analytical and strategic attitude and enormous knowledge about tennis helped us to achieve things I’ve never dreamed of only a few months after we started working together.

“Our main goal was to become No.1 player in the world and coach Wiktorowski was the one who said it first. We aimed very high, we headed to every tournament with a clear goal to win it. Together with coach Wiktorowski we won many tournaments and 4 Grand Slams.”

She added: “Coach, THANK YOU, I wish you all the best. I know that you would like to rest after these 3 years of hard work and travelling a lot and spend some well deserved time with your loved ones and I hope you’ll get what you need.”

What did Iga Świątek achieve with Tomasz Wiktorowski as her coach?

Wiktorowski, who is the former coach of 2012 Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwańska, joined Swiatek’s team following the conclusion of the 2021 campaign, a year in which she did not win a major.

But under his tutelage, Swiatek had a breakout year in 2022. During that season she became the World number one after Ash Barty announced her shock retirement from tennis.

She went on a 37-match winning streak, the longest on the WTA Tour in the 21st century, and claimed her second French Open title and maiden US Open championship.

Since then Swiatek has spent over 100 weeks as the WTA’s top-ranked player and now has five majors to her name, four of them coming at Roland Garros.

She added to her collection by winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games. But Swiatek now feels it is time for a change and ended their successful partnership.
