Jannik Sinner has received a three month ban from tennis that is splitting opinion between both players and fans.
Sinner has been banned until May 4, after accepting a ban following two positive anti-doping tests in March last year.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) were originally seeking a ban of between one and two years for Sinner, but the world number one is now only set to miss a fraction of that.
This has prompted a strong reaction, with Nick Kyrgios commenting on Sinner to continue his outspoken views on this case.
Stan Wawrinka has also criticized Sinner’s outcome, and questioned what this means for the future of tennis.
While he has not commented on this case personally, Novak Djokovic’s PTPA have reacted to Sinner’s verdict in a strongly worded statement.

Andy Roddick and Jon Wertheim react to Jannik Sinner ban
The latest people to have their say on Sinner’s ruling are Andy Roddick and Jon Wertheim on the their podcast.
Roddick defended Sinner last year when the initial verdict was given by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).
However, when speaking about the WADA ban both Wertheim and Roddick appeared to suggest that this is the best possible outcome for Sinner.
“This is essentially a plea deal,” said tennis journalist Wertheim. “Jannik Sinner has assurances that he won’t miss a major having won the previous one. WADA is assured that their appeal would not be unsuccessful.
“I think the 90 days is about right. I think that is fair and proportional to the facts here. I do think we should be talking a bit about the when.
“Suspending your kid for three days when it starts on a Friday from school, is a lot different to Monday morning. I think the manipulated timing is almost more problematic than what is essentially a 90 day sentence.”
Roddick responded, “Literally if you could hand pick a date, it’s I am going to start this 10 days after the Aussie Open and I am going to end it… It’s not even right before the French Open, it’s right before I make my return to Rome.
“You could not have handpicked a better sweet spot for Jannik Sinner to take this deal which is either strange or the best coincidence that has ever happen to the Sinner team.”
Sinner is expected to return for his home Masters 1000 tournament at the Italian Open, that takes place a few weeks prior to Roland Garros.
What tournaments will Jannik Sinner miss during his three month ban?
Sinner is expected to miss five tournaments during his three month ban, with four of those at Masters 1000 level.
This means that Sinner will drop 1,600 points from his ranking, which includes dropping 1,000 points from winning the Miami Open title last year.
Despite reaching the semi-finals at Indian Wells in 2024, Sinner will not drop any further points after those were already taken from him last year, as that was when the two positive anti-doping tests occurred.
| Tournament Sinner will miss | Ranking points dropped | New ranking points total |
| Qatar Open | 500 (from winning Rotterdam) | 11,330 |
| Indian Wells | 0 | 11,330 |
| Miami Open | 1000 | 10,330 |
| Monte Carlo Masters | 400 | 9,930 |
| Madrid Open | 200 | 9,730 |
With Sinner set to drop 1,600 points, rivals Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz may be sensing an opportunity to overtake the world number one.
However, both Zverev and Alcaraz will need a positive few months as they currently trail Sinner by 3,695 points and 4,320 points, respectively.
