Andy Murray continues to have a huge impact on the tennis world despite retiring from the sport last year.

Murray retired after the 2024 Paris Olympics last summer, with three Grand Slam titles and 46 ATP Tour titles won overall.

Among his superb successes are two titles at Wimbledon and another at the US Open, having ended a 77-year wait for men’s home success at the former in 2013.

Murray isn’t planning to attend Wimbledon this year, although there are grand plans to honour the Scot at the All England Club.

Wimbledon will build a Murray statue in a bid to pay tribute to his phenomenal efforts there over the years, which the legend fully deserves.

But even if he isn’t returning this year, he has been on hand to build his ‘ultimate champion’ for the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) ahead of Wimbledon.

With random ATP and WTA players to choose from, he decided: “Okay, [Elina] Svitolina, I’m going to go backhand.

Rafael Nadal mentality. [Carlos] Alcaraz forehand. [Aryna] Sabalenka has got to be serve. [Roger] Federer touch. I’ve done well here. Speed [Gael Monfils]. I mean that is… that’s the perfect player.”

How have Andy Murray’s selections performed at Wimbledon?

Murray seemingly surprised himself with how well his picks went, with the Scot left very confident in his ideal player.

And it certainly would be an exciting player that would be generated from the options that the three-time Grand Slam champion landed on.

A mix of the previous era and the new generation would add plenty of excitement, with the stunning serving of Sabalenka and forehand of Alcaraz certain to be on show over the coming fortnight.

The Belarusian has only ever managed to reach the semi-finals of the grass court Grand Slam, while the Spaniard is the two-time defending champion.

Legendary figures Federer and Nadal meanwhile both emerged victorious in London during their phenomenal careers.

The former holds the record for the most men’s titles with eight, while the latter triumphed at the iconic tournament on two occasions.

Fellow legend Monfils once reached the fourth round of the grass court Grand Slam, while Svitolina, who fittingly is his wife, has twice reached the semi-finals.
