Frances Tiafoe has been announced to play at the Laver Cup for the sixth time in his career.
Tiafoe will join three fellow Americans and Joao Fonseca for Team World at the Laver Cup that takes place later this year.
Despite leading going into the final day of the 2024 Laver Cup in Berlin, Tiafoe and Team World were beaten by Team Europe in dramatic fashion.
There is a big change to this year’s competition, as Agassi takes over from John McEnroe as the captain of Team World.

Tiafoe is the latest announcement for Team World, as he is now set to make a joint-record sixth appearance at the Laver Cup.
Despite never competing under Agassi before, the former world number one appears excited about the prospect of mentoring Tiafoe.
When speaking to atptour.com, Agassi explained why Tiafoe is such a great addition to Team World.
“Frances is a perfect fit for the Laver Cup,” said Agassi. “He’s a big-match player, who thrives in the team environment, and is a threat in both singles and doubles.
“Beyond that, he brings incredible energy while on court and to our bench when supporting the team. His presence lifts everyone around him. I’m thrilled to have him on our team.”

Team World have only ever beaten Team Europe two times in the seven previous editions of the event.
Tiafoe has been part of Team World on both occasions that they have won the Laver Cup, and has contributed 11 points for his team.
On the main ATP Tour, Tiafoe’s doubles record is concerning, but he actually has a better record in doubles than singles at the Laver Cup.
However, due to the unique format, Tiafoe has still been able to earn more points in singles.

When speaking about why he enjoys playing the Laver Cup so much, Tiafoe explained that he enjoys the team aspect of the event, which is not something tennis players experience very often.
“There’s nothing like Laver Cup,” said Tiafoe. “I love playing for Team World and competing alongside guys who are usually my rivals.
“We’ve built something special, and I can’t wait to bring that same energy to San Francisco. Playing at home in front of U.S. fans means a lot – and I want to do everything I can to help us win.”
The 2025 Laver Cup will take place in San Francisco this year over the weekend of September 19-21.
