Alexander Zverev was unable to win his first title since April after being beaten in the Vienna Open final by Jannik Sinner.
Zverev has won 24 titles in his career so far, but only one of them has come in 2025 at the Munich Open after a mixed season.
The German had the opportunity to add to his collection after reaching the Vienna Open final again, but Sinner beat Zverev after coming from a set down.
Now, after having some time to reflect on his loss, Zverev has posted a message on social media.

Sinner beat Zverev, 3-6 6-3 7-5, in a final that lasted nearly two-and-a-half hours in the Austrian capital.
Despite the obvious disappointment of losing such a close-fought final, Zverev appeared to be in good spirits after the match and that continued into his Instagram post.
In this post, Zverev congratulated Sinner on his victory, “Thank you, Vienna, for an amazing week (blue love heart emoji).
“A lot of positives to take from this tournament @erstebankopen (raised hands emoji). And of course congrats to @janniksin on a great final.”
Although he was unable to take home the title, Zverev’s run in Vienna has confirmed that he will be playing at the ATP Finals for an eighth time.
What is the head-to-head between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev after the Vienna Open final?
The head-to-head between Sinner and Zverev is now level at four wins apiece, but it has been a little more one-sided as of late.
After winning their first meeting at Roland Garros in 2020, Sinner lost his next four matches against Zverev.
However, this run ended in Cincinnati last year, and Sinner has now beaten Zverev in the finals of the Australian Open and the Vienna Open to level things up.

Although the 2025 season is nearly drawing to a close, Zverev still has three tournaments remaining this year, which will begin with his title defense of the Paris Masters.
Zverev may not be pleased with the changes the Paris Masters have made this year, and he could face Sinner again if they both reach the semifinals.
