Jannik Sinner has defeated Alexander Zverev in the final of the Vienna Open to claim another title for his impressive haul of trophies.
The Italian is currently the world number two, and although he won’t be overtaking Carlos Alcaraz before the year ends, this is another step in the right direction.
Sinner overcame a first-set deficit to break Zverev’s resolve in three sets and claim another ATP title.
After the match, Sinner spoke of his pride at claiming another big win but conceded that the match was more difficult than it probably should have been.

Jannik Sinner delivers instant reaction after beating Alexander Zverev
Sinner will now plot his next move accordingly, with the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals still to play this year before attentions turn towards January and the Australian Open.
Sinner was clearly satisfied to come through and win the tournament and after the match he spoke about his performance level and paid tribute to Zverev too.
He said on the court: “It feels amazing, it’s such a difficult match, it was a tough start for me, and Alexander was serving very well. I just tried to stick in there and play my best tennis when it mattered. I just tried to push, and it feels very special.
“It was very difficult, of course, but you know it’s important not to give up, see what the situation is, and I tried to make the right choices at the right time. I was serving well, that was important too, and it was a good performance not only from me but also from both sides.”
Sinner struggled with hamstring cramps
After withdrawing from the Shanghai Masters after struggling with cramps, Sinner once again looked a little bit uneasy out on the court.
He was limping quite heavily in the first set and as a result, he lost it to Zverev, who must have fancied winning the match at that point.
The German player will probably be kicking himself that he wasn’t able to capitalise on a brilliant first set, allowing Sinner a foothold in the match.
Sinner will now move on to Paris for the final 1000 event of the calendar year, and provided he plays, he should now have plenty of confidence going into the event.
