Daniil Medvedev is finally back amongst the titles on the ATP Tour.
After 882 days, Medvedev ended the drought at the Almaty Open, winning the ATP 250 event after defeating Corentin Moutet in the final.
The Russian had not hoisted a trophy since the 2023 Italian Open in Rome, where he claimed his first clay title.
Since then, he had reached six finals, including championship matches at both the US Open and the Australian Open, suffering near misses in all of them.

Medvedev‘s level took a big dip this year until he parted ways with longtime coach Gilles Cervara and appointed Thomas Johansson, under whom he has seen a big improvement.
It took just over a month for Medvedev to win a tournament with his new team, and now the former world number has the joint-fourth most titles of any active player.
Daniil Medvedev ties two former major winners in title tally
With his victory at the Almaty Open, Medvedev matched the title tally of two former Grand Slam champions.
Now on 21, he equalled the totals of 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic, and four-time major winner Jannik Sinner.
Only three active players have more titles than Medvedev, with the 29-year-old trailing only Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic.
| Player | Titles |
| Novak Djokovic | 100 |
| Carlos Alcaraz | 24 |
| Alexander Zverev | 24 |
| Jannik Sinner | 21 |
| Marin Cilic | 21 |
| Daniil Medvedev | 21 |
| Andrey Rublev | 17 |
| Stan Wawrinka | 16 |
| Casper Ruud | 14 |
Among the 48 players in the Open Era to have ever secured more than 20 ATP titles, Medvedev is the only star to claim each of his wins at different events.
He has won 21 different titles in 21 different cities, 19 of which have come on his preferred surface of hard court.

Daniil Medvedev’s hot run of form on the tour recently
After his disappointing first-round exit at the US Open, Medvedev has recorded some promising results on the ATP Tour.
He reached the quarterfinals at the Hangzhou Open, before reaching the semifinals at the China Open, which marked his first final-four appearance since the Halle Open in June.
Medvedev advanced to another semifinal at the Shanghai Masters, dropping just one set en route to his clash with Arthur Rinderknech, who beat him to reach a maiden Masters 1000 final.
At the Almaty Open, Medvedev’s hot streak continued, with the now-world number 14 digging deep to go all the way and taste success once again.
Now, Medvedev will get his indoor hard-court season underway, which begins at the Vienna Open, where he will face Nuno Borges in round one.
