Alexander Zverev highlighted the ways in which Jannik Sinner has improved his game to become the world’s best player.
The Italian showed great promise at the end of 2023 when he guided Italy to their first Davis Cup victory since 1976, before repeating the feat in 2024.
Since then, Sinner transformed his game and is now a three-time Grand Slam champion and the World number one.
Each player is now trying to catch him at the top of the ATP Tour rankings, and though the 23-year-old is currently suspended, he is expected to pick up where he left off when he returns to action.

Alexander Zverev says what Jannik Sinner does better than anyone else on tour
Jannik Sinner has found ways to improve his game that made him the ATP’s most consistent player since the start of 2024.
He has won the last two Australian Open titles, a US Open crown, multiple Masters 1000 crowns and earned big wins over the likes of Novak Djokovic.
One of those who have experienced Sinner’s improved level up close is Alexander Zverev, who came up short against the World number one in the 2025 Australian Open final.
Speaking with Jim Courier on what Sinner has done to improve his game, the German said: “This is where Jannik has improved so much over the last years. It’s incredible.
“He has a game plan every time he walks on court with someone and I feel he would rather lose with a set game plan than go off course and try and be creative or something like that.
“I feel like I have to give Darren Cahill tremendous props for that. Jannik has always had the weapons. He always had the forehand. He always had the backhand. He has improved serve a lot. We don’t need to talk about that.
“But Darren has told him all right, against this guy you’re going to this and this and you are going to win 80% of the time. If today’s one of those 20% so be it.
“But you are going to come out and have a set game plan and 5 all and a tiebreak. You’re going to stick to that game plan and you are going to trust it. And I think this is where he has improved so much and where has improved more than anyone else.”

When can Jannik Sinner return to tennis?
Sinner is currently unable to add to his list of achievements in tennis due to his three-month suspension.
He was banned from the game after testing positive for a banned substance clostebol on two occasions both during and immediately after the 2024 Indian Wells Masters.
The ban comes after WADA appealed against the decision to clear Sinner of any wrongdoing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The ban runs from February 9 until May 4, meaning he is absent from the Indian Wells and will miss the Miami Open and April’s Monte Carlo Masters, Barcelona and Madrid Open events.
Sinner will be eligible to return to competition at his home tournament of the Italian Open, in the build up to the French Open.
