Alexander Bublik is an ATP Tour champion once again after beating Daniil Medvedev in the Halle final.
Medvedev praised his own grass game ahead of the final in Halle, but went on to lose 3-6, 6-7(4-7) to Bublik in Germany.
Bublik also won the title in Halle in 2023, and is now just the third player to triumph at the event more than once.
The Kazakhstani ace follows in the footsteps of 10-time winner Roger Federer and three-time champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov.
Bublik beat defending champion Jannik Sinner in the last 16 in Halle, with that win over the ATP number one coming after his opening success over Alexandre Muller.

He then battled past Tomas Machac and Karen Khachanov before his final victory over third seed Medvedev.
And he was full of praise for the runner-up after their meeting, with Bublik saying in his winning speech: “First of all, Daniil, I’ve been cursed to play you forever and never won a set in my life today I’m happy to get through. You’re a great champion, I wish you a lot of success.
“To beat you here it’s a privilege for me. You’ve been working with your team forever, have been winning slams and I wish you a lot more success and a lot more slams.”

As he mentioned, Bublik has finally managed to taste success against Medvedev, having lost all six of their previous meetings.
The 28-year-old has now put that misery behind him, and has just clinched his fifth career title on the ATP Tour.

His success follows his previous win at Halle, two at Montpellier and one in Antwerp, all of which arrived between 2022 and 2024.
The latest comes just after his impressive showing at the French Open, where Bublik reached the quarter-finals before falling to Sinner.
| Year | Titles | Tournaments |
| 2025 | 1 | Halle (Outdoor/Grass) |
| 2024 | 1 | Montpellier (Indoor/Hard) |
| 2023 | 2 | Antwerp (Indoor/Hard) Halle (Outdoor/Grass) |
| 2022 | 1 | Montpellier (Indoor/Hard) |
That represents his best-ever Grand Slam run, with the world number 45 now in with a fine chance of another strong showing at Wimbledon.
Medvedev meanwhile fell just short of a 21st ATP title in Halle, although he remained upbeat afterwards despite the loss.
Talking to Bublik in his post-match speech, the Russian said: “Big congrats to you, your team. I hope you’re in Carlos’ draw at Wimbledon.
“Like this, maybe we have a sensation in the third/fourth round. So continue playing like this, and again please Carlos’ or Jannik’s [Sinner] draw at Wimbledon.”
