Alex de Minaur has admitted that it has not all been positivity for him over this past year.

De Minaur won the Washington Open back in July, as well as reaching two Grand Slam quarterfinals and the semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters.

As a result, this has enabled De Minaur to qualify for the ATP Finals for the second consecutive year.

De Minaur lost to Carlos Alcaraz in his first match in Turin, and he has now admitted that he has faced some big struggles over this past season.

Alex de Minaur names the saddest moment of his 2025 season

De Minaur has become one of the more popular players on the ATP Tour in recent years, with a big part of that being down to his positive nature.

The Australian has enjoyed some very positive moments, and when asked by BB Tennis what his happiest moment of the season has been, De Minaur responded by revealing that it actually came at the Paris Masters.

“Probably qualifying for Turin [ATP Finals] in Paris,” said De Minaur. “I won my third round match and I didn’t even know that if I won that match I was going to qualify and they told me straight after, so yeah that was a pretty good moment.”

However, it has not all been happy for De Minaur, who called for tennis to change after admitting he felt burnt out following his second round exit at the French Open.

This is something De Minaur has admitted he has never felt before, and he named it as the saddest moment of the season, alongside his recent defeat at the Davis Cup.

“After Roland Garros when I felt mentally burnt out. It was a very difficult feeling, which I had never experienced before, so a real shock to the system,” explained De Minaur. “Or losing in Davis Cup in Sydney against [Raphael] Collingon, that was a tough moment.”

De Minaur now appears to have come through that, and will try to get his ATP Finals campaign back on the road when he plays Lorenzo Musetti.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner reveal the saddest moment of their seasons

Jannik Sinner and Alcaraz have continued to dominate the ATP Tour for the past two years, winning all eight of the last Grand Slam tournaments between them.

When asked to name their favourite moment of the season, Sinner spoke about winning Wimbledon for the first time, while Alcaraz said his birthday was a real highlight for him.

Although they are the best players on the ATP Tour by some way, there have also been challenges presented in the way of both Sinner and Alcaraz.

Sinner has unsurprisingly named his three month ban as the toughest moment of his year, while Alcaraz cited his opening round defeat at the Miami Open to David Goffin.

Both players have since come through the other side of this, and Alcaraz and Sinner are now battling for world number one at the year-end ATP Finals.
