Carlos Alcaraz has suffered another early exit from the Paris Masters after losing his only match at this year’s tournament.
Alcaraz was beaten by Cameron Norrie at the Paris Masters this year, despite winning the first set of their match.
Although Norrie was praised for the way in which he played, Alcaraz has been told he made mistakes that cost him in the match.
Norrie is the fifth player to have beaten Alcaraz at the Paris Masters, which includes someone who was ranked outside the top 100.

Cameron Norrie is the fifth player to beat Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Masters
Alcaraz had been beaten twice by Norrie before, but this is the first time this has happened to the Spaniard as world number one.
It also feels more prominent as it has continued Alcaraz’s poor record at the Paris Masters, the tournament where he has never surpassed the quarterfinals.
Alcaraz’s only appearance in the Paris Masters quarterfinals came in 2022, but he was forced to retire against eventual champion Holger Rune due to an abdominal injury.
Rune is the joint-highest ranked player to have beaten Alcaraz, who was also beaten by Ugo Humbert in Paris last year.
Alcaraz’s two other defeats have come against qualifiers, including being stunned by Roman Safiullin in 2023.
His first appearance at the Paris Masters came in 2021, which also saw Alcaraz’s first ATP meeting with Sinner, before he would lose to then world number 103 Hugo Gaston.

Carlos Alcaraz’s Paris Masters record compared to the other ATP 1000 tournaments
Alcaraz was left particularly frustrated in his latest defeat and it is no surprise as his record at the Paris Masters is up there with one of his worst at a tournament of this calibre.
The 22-year-old has impressed at nearly every tournament, with Alcaraz winning a title at six Masters 1000 tournaments.

This includes Alcaraz winning the title at the Monte Carlo Masters, the Italian Open and the Cincinnati Open all in this year.
| Masters 1000 tournament | Carlos Alcaraz’s Win-loss Record | Carlos Alcaraz’s Best Result |

The only ATP 1000 tournaments which Alcaraz has never won the title are the Canadian Open, Shanghai Masters and the Paris Masters.
However, Alcaraz has only ever made two appearances at the Canadian Open and the Shanghai Masters, whereas he has played five times in Paris.
This latest defeat to Norrie brings an end to his Masters 1000 season in 2025, with Alcaraz only having two tournaments left this year.
