Oliver Tarvet will be out to make more memories this year at Wimbledon, having experienced an unforgettable meeting with Carlos Alcaraz in 2025.

Alcaraz was the two-time defending champion last year, and met British qualifier Tarvet in the second round at the All England Club.

The Spaniard won their clash 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, and went on to reach the Wimbledon final, where he lost to Jannik Sinner.

Meanwhile, Tarvet made an intriguing move after that meeting, opting against going professional at that stage of his career.

Tarvet progressed through three rounds of qualifying last year to earn a first round match against fellow qualifier Leandro Riedi.

That 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory set up the encounter with Alcaraz, after which the Briton decided to return to the University of San Diego to finish his final year.

One year later, the 22-year-old is now ranked 349th on the ATP Tour, and has just managed to once again qualify for Wimbledon.

Having been handed a wildcard, Tarvet knocked out Alex Bolt, Alexis Galarneau and Stefanos Sakellaridis to reach the main draw.

And while he won’t be able to exact revenge on the injured Alcaraz, another exciting encounter with a different superstar could very well be on the cards at SW19.

What happened in Wimbledon qualifying?

Wimbledon qualifying was intriguing to say the least, with four British players having made their way into the final round.

However, Dan Evans tumbled out of the event after losing his second match, which marks his last-ever singles appearance before retirement.

Two-time quarterfinalist David Goffin lost in Wimbledon qualifying too after falling in round one, along with top seed Francisco Comesana.

Moreover, fellow home favorite Heather Watson lost in the final round, but 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu has made it through.

Meanwhile, Harmony Tan fell at the final hurdle as well, meaning she cannot recreate her heroics from 2022, when she beat Serena Williams in round one in the American’s most recent Wimbledon match.
