Carlos Alcaraz remains absent from the ATP Tour because of a wrist injury, with a return date still unknown.

Alcaraz last played at the Barcelona Open in mid-April, when he beat Otto Virtanen before withdrawing from his match against Tomas Machac.

Since then, Alcaraz has withdrawn from Wimbledon, with the Spaniard indeed set to miss the entire grass-court swing this summer.

The ATP number two has, however, now shared an update on his progress by posting footage from his latest training session.

Which player has the most to gain from Carlos Alcaraz’s Wimbledon withdrawal?

In an overall life update from the Spanish superstar, Alcaraz shared several images and videos on his Instagram.

One video took place at the Carlos Alcaraz Academy, where he shared footage of himself practicing on the court.

His wrist was still taped up, and he wasn’t able to hit any forehand shots because of the injury.

But Alcaraz was able to mimic his forehand, while he moved across the court to hit shots with his left hand.

The 23-year-old also shared footage of a friendly doubles match, where again he was able to play left-handed.

What is Carlos Alcaraz’s ATP record in 2026?

While it may not be the absolute best update that Alcaraz and his fans could have hoped for, there are plenty of positives to take.

However, he simply cannot rush his return, with Alcaraz making a smart decision to miss Wimbledon, especially given how tricky a transition it would be from clay to grass.

But he will be desperate to make a comeback as soon as possible, having watched his fierce rival Jannik Sinner steal the limelight in his absence.

Still, Alcaraz can be hugely proud of his stunning efforts in the 2026 ATP season so far, which include two titles and a 22-3 record.

He lifted the trophies at the Australian Open and in Qatar, with the former success seeing him become the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam.

It remains to be seen how much of the rest of the season he will have to add to that glory, but it would be foolish to rule out more titles even with his lengthy injury issue.
