Daniil Medvedev has really struggled at Grand Slam tournaments in 2025.
Medvedev is a former US Open champion and world number one, but he has looked far from that player this year.
This was epitomised in his most recent major defeat, in which Medvedev had a huge outburst against the umpire in his first round exit at the US Open to Benjamin Bonzi.
As a result, this has confirmed that Medvedev has only beaten one player at a Grand Slam in 2025.

Kasidit Samrej: The only player Daniil Medvedev has beaten at a Grand Slam in 2025
The average ranking, at the time of the match, of the five players Medvedev has competed against in Grand Slams this year is 147.
Medvedev has only beaten one of those players, and that player is Kasidit Samrej, who at the time was the world number 418.
That match was not straightforward either, with the Thai wildcard actually leading Medvedev by two sets to one at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Five set matches have become a familiar sight for Medvedev at Grand Slams this year, with only one of his five matches not going the distance.
| Grand Slam | Daniil Medvedev’s Result in 2025 |
| Australian Open – First Round | Beat Kasidit Samrej, 6-2 4-6 3-6 6-1 6-2 |
| Second Round | Lost to Learner Tien, 6-3 7-6(4) 6(8)-7 1-6 7-6(7) |
| Roland Garros – First Round | Lost to Cameron Norrie, 7-5 6-3 4-6 1-6 7-5 |
| Wimbledon – First Round | Lost to Benjamin Bonzi, 7-6(2) 3-6 7-6(3) 6-2 |
| US Open – First Round | Lost to Benjamin Bonzi, 6-3 7-5 6(5)-7 0-6 6-4 |
There has also been a familiar sight in the opponents he has been losing to at recent Grand Slams, with Medvedev losing to Bonzi at both Wimbledon and the US Open.
Medvedev had a point to prove at the US Open this year, but instead suffered his first opening round defeat since his main draw debut in 2017.
That is also the only other year where Medvedev has won just one match in an entire Grand Slam year.
Although his form is highlighted at the major tournament, Medvedev has also struggled on the ATP Tour this year and has not won a single title since the Italian Open in 2023.
What has happened to Kasidit Samrej since the Australian Open?
Medvedev’s fortunes, or misfortunes, have been very public since his victory over Samrej, but the Thai 24-year-old has been quietly going about his business on the lower-level ITF Tour since then.
Initially, Samrej was unable to continue the form he showed at the Australian Open, but after dropping down to the lowest level of ITF tournament he has rediscovered his form.
This has included Samrej winning back-to-back titles in the M15 event in Singapore.
Samrej is now at a career-high ranking of world number 346 following his consistent string of results in Asia.
However, he has since suffered a setback after retiring from his last two matches, including his first qualifying match at the ATP Challenger event in Zhangjiagang.
