Daniil Medvedev has crashed out of Wimbledon in the first round, after losing to Benjamin Bonzi over four sets.
Bonzi defeated Medvedev 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 7-2 to reach the second round at Wimbledon for the third time in his career.
The Frenchman, number 42 in the ATP rankings, will now play 2024 US Open doubles champion Jordan Thompson in his next match at the tournament.
Following his shocking triumph over Medvedev, Bonzi explained how he was able to overcome the former world number one.

Benjamin Bonzi explains how he was able to beat Daniil Medvedev at Wimbledon
In his on-court interview, Bonzi said: “This is special for me today. This is my first top 10 win in a slam. It’s always special in these tournaments.
“The atmosphere. All the colours. The grass. The green. The purple. I love this place. Daniil is a great player. He made two semifinals here.
“I knew it was a tough match. But sometimes it’s better to play these kinds of players in the first round.”
When asked why it’s easier to play top players in the first round, he answered: “Because they’re not used to the courts.
“We’re on the same level on that. You probably get more confidence after some wins. Today, it was 50/50 at the start of the match; you have nothing to lose. So it’s a big time to bring my A game.”

Daniil Medvedev suffers his third consecutive Grand Slam loss
Following his loss, Medvedev has now suffered a hat-trick of early exits at Grand Slam events this year, and is on a three-match losing streak at majors.
After beating Kasidit Samrej in his first-round match at the Australian Open, he bowed out in his next clash in Melbourne against Learner Tiern over five sets.
Medvedev then lost his opening match at the French Open to Cameron Norrie, despite coming back from two sets down to force a fifth set.
After enjoying a deep run at the Halle Open, he has now lost in round one at Wimbledon for the first time in his career.
