Novak Djokovic knows about Grand Slam tennis more than most, but his journey at that level isn’t finished just yet.
Djokovic is making Grand Slam appearance number 81 at next month’s Australian Open, an event he has won 10 times.
No male player has won it more often, while no male player has won more Grand Slam titles than Djokovic overall.
The ATP legend is currently chasing title number 25, which would take him beyond Margaret Court and solo top of the all-time list.
Who will win the 2026 Australian Open?
Novak Djokovic once named the Australian Open as the Grand Slam with the best atmosphere
Djokovic’s first opportunity will arrive in Melbourne, which is ideal given that he once named the Australian Open as the Grand Slam with the best atmosphere.
When asked by the media at the tournament back in 2008 for his favorite Grand Slam, he replied: “I don’t have one.
“There is a lot of difference. This one has probably [the] best atmosphere. The other ones have [the] best facilities.
“The third one… so it’s strange, but I was saying always that I would like to win Wimbledon in the first place, because it has… when I was a kid, I just saw [Pete] Sampras lifting the Wimbledon trophy, and it has a big tradition.
“So it would have a special place in my career.”

Where has Novak Djokovic won his 24 Grand Slam titles?
Djokovic may just have changed his mind since then, having enjoyed most of his Grand Slam success at the Australian Open.
Court’s 11 Australian Open titles are more than any other player in the history of the sport, but Djokovic is next in line with 10.
Wimbledon comes next for the Serbian, who boasts seven titles at the All England Club, behind only the eight of Roger Federer.
Who will be the biggest disappointment at the 2026 Australian Open?
He’s also managed to lift the US Open trophy on four occasions, along with the French Open trophy three times.
Fittingly the 2008 Australian Open was Djokovic’s maiden Grand Slam title, with that tournament certain to have provided the Serbian with memories that will last a lifetime.
