Novak Djokovic will go down in history among the all-time greats, but the Serbian isn’t finished just yet.
Djokovic is taking time off before getting another season underway in 2026, with the Australian Open among the early events.
It returns to the ATP calendar in mid-January, with Djokovic’s 10 titles at the Grand Slam more than any other player.
His fellow legend Roger Federer, who has retired from tennis, is his nearest rival on the list with six, alongside Australian icon Roy Emerson.

Novak Djokovic picked Rod Laver Arena as his favorite court in 2020
The Australian Open was once held on grass courts, but currently takes place on the hard courts of Melbourne Park.
Rod Laver Arena represents the centerpiece, with Djokovic explaining what it meant to him after reaching the 2020 Australian Open semifinal.
Who will win the 2026 Australian Open?
He commented after beating Milos Raonic: “I’m honored to have Rod Laver present here tonight for our match.
“Thank you very much for coming. It adds more pressure, seeing Rod and all the other legends sitting in the box and watching us play.
“I have been fortunate to play on such a high level for so many years and this is without any doubt my favorite court and tournament; I love being here.”
Djokovic set up a semifinal clash with fellow legend Federer with the win, a match he won before beating Dominic Thiem in the final.
Novak Djokovic’s Australian Open finals
Djokovic lifted the iconic trophy for a stunning eighth time in 2020, when he successfully defended his title from 2019.
He did the same in 2021, and returned to Australian Open success for the tenth time in his career in 2023.
Unsurprisingly then, Rod Laver Arena and the Australian Open in general are much-loved by the Serbian legend, with Djokovic winning all 10 of his finals at the event.
He’s also won Wimbledon seven times, while Djokovic boasts four US Open titles and three French Open titles.
