Novak Djokovic has not held back in publicly sharing what his ultimate goal in tennis is right now.
In fact, he has actively been pushing for this accolade for years now, yet continues to be thwarted by Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
His quest for a record-shattering 25th Grand Slam title has arguably been his toughest yet, and with the way in which this duopoly is going, it’s only set to get harder.
The gulf between the top-two-ranked players in the world and the chasing pack is astronomical, and so to win one of these elite honours, Novak Djokovic has to go through both. At 39 years old, the physical demands that such a task elicits are simply impossible.
However, he has now revealed that, during his ongoing off-season, he has been making plans to give himself the best chance of upsetting the odds.
Novak Djokovic reveals what he’s been doing in his off-season
Historically, writing Djokovic off at any point in his career has been an unsuccessful move. It is therefore what is making many so sceptical of doing the same here, even if things have arguably never looked so bleak.
After all, as his physical powers wane, his two young rivals only grow stronger as they contest final after final on the biggest stages.
Who is the greatest male tennis player of all time?
The last eight major titles have been shared by Alcaraz and Sinner, with Djokovic having been beaten by one of this pair in the last three Grand Slam tournaments too.
And yet, when speaking to Sky Sports, he remained as positive as ever. The legendary veteran claimed: “I’m taking a short break and trying to reconstruct my machine, so to say, in racing terminology.
“I’ve been getting injured more often than not in the last 18 months, so I’m trying to rebuild my body so the start of the next season will be great and, hopefully, I can keep it up with the best guys.”
The way he has been doing this is through his Regenesis recovery pod, which he explained: “It is a multi-sensory wellness capsule pod that resets your batteries in the shortest amount of time, which is eight minutes.”

At this point, Djokovic seems willing to try anything to give himself a chance of winning Grand Slam number 25.
Novak Djokovic’s best chance is at the Australian Open
Djokovic will definitely be eyeing the 2026 Australian Open as his best chance of winning that coveted next major title, although it will likely not be easy anywhere.
After all, he is the greatest champion in this tournament’s history, with his ten titles unmatched by any competitor.
Not to mention that Djokovic’s decision to withdraw from the ATP Finals has given him an elongated off-season, which could prove to be the crucial difference that boosts his fitness levels.
Novak Djokovic’s 2028 Olympics plan
This is specially true given the potential for others to suffer slow starts to the season as well.
Although the Serbian has suggested he hopes to continue playing tennis well into 2028, eyeing the next Olympic Games in LA, one pundit predicted Djokovic might retire at the upcoming Australian Open.
If he were to win number 25, you could not rule out his imminent departure from the sport, given he would have secured a record unlike any other and effectively secured his GOAT status.
