Australian men’s tennis has largely been headlined by two players for quite some time now: Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur.
Though neither star has won a Grand Slam title yet, the pair of compatriots have competed at the very highest level over the past few years.
Kyrgios reached the peak of his career in 2022, when he advanced to a maiden Grand Slam final at the Wimbledon championships.
Nick Kyrgios is good for tennis – Prove me wrong!
De Minaur, on the other hand, has enjoyed improvements more recently, with the now-ever-present top ten player achieving a career-high ranking of sixth in the world during 2024.
While the two Australians have flown the flag high for their country, there were once rumours that the two had engaged in a feud.

What Nick Kyrgios once said about Alex de Minaur
Before the 2023 United Cup, reports emerged that De Minaur was unhappy with Kyrgios for making a late withdrawal from Team Australia amid injury concerns.
In response, as per Tennis Up To Date, Kyrgios said: “Me and Demon (De Minaur) have a very special relationship.
“I still remember him being the orange boy in the Davis Cup team and I was the one who would hit with him when the tie was finished.”
Who is the better player – Nick Kyrgios or Alex de Minaur?
Let us know why in the comments below!
“Me and Demon have a great relationship. He came up to me yesterday and said, ‘I’m sorry for everything and I hope your body goes well’.
“I respect all these players, so it’s not a big deal when I read about me and Demon are feuding. He’s one of my close mates on tour, and he always will be.”

Nick Kyrgios’ record against Alex de Minaur on the ATP Tour
Kyrgios and De Minaur have only ever faced off once on the ATP Tour, with the sole clash coming during the 2022 season.
At the Canadian Open that year, the two stars met in the round of 16, and the clash was fairly one-sided.
Kyrgios defeated De Minaur in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 competition.
The former Wimbledon finalist was ultimately beaten in the last eight by eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz.
