Wimbledon has finally arrived, with star names across the ATP and WTA tours now vying for the prestigious trophy at SW19.
ATP number one Jannik Sinner is the top seed in the men’s main draw, with WTA number one Aryna Sabalenka occupying the same status in the women’s event.
Both players head into Wimbledon after defeats in the French Open final, where Sinner lost to Carlos Alcaraz and Sabalenka lost to Coco Gauff.
All four players look set to also enjoy lengthy stays at the All England Club, having dominated their respective tours for some time now.
There is certainly pressure on the quartet to keep up their high standards in London, but three players find themselves under a different type of pressure heading into the tournament, and there is a chance they may not deal with it well.

Emma Raducanu
There is a very exciting battle playing out on the WTA Tour between world numbers one and two Sabalenka and Gauff, just like there is on the ATP Tour with Sinner and Alcaraz.
But given Emma Raducanu’s return to form and indeed her return to the very top of the British tennis rankings, she will undoubtedly come under the microscope at Wimbledon.

There’s still plenty of room for improvement, but the 22-year-old has certainly looked like her old self in recent times.
But unfortunately that will simply increase the pressure on her to perform at Wimbledon, along with the fact that no British woman has won the tournament since Virginia Wade in 1977.

Jack Draper
Just as Raducanu faces pressure largely because of the home crowd, her fellow Briton Jack Draper is in the exact same position.
But there is arguably more pressure on the men’s star, who currently occupies fourth place in the ATP rankings.

Draper is in Sinner’s half of the draw, but Novak Djokovic, Alexander Bublik and Carlos Alcaraz are just a few of the names potentially standing in his way of the title after he was handed a very tricky draw.
It won’t be easy for the Briton to deal with the huge expectation on his shoulders, just as it wasn’t for Andy Murray, who hugely impressively managed to end the nation’s 77-year wait for a home men’s singles champion when he lifted the trophy in 2013.
Taylor Fritz
While Raducanu and Draper enter the tournament as the highest-ranked British players, Taylor Fritz holds the same status for American men at SW19.
He is also fifth in the ATP rankings, and is under immense pressure in London due to that situation and indeed the fact he has just won his second grass title of 2025 at Eastbourne.

Moreover, the agony from American tennis fans has only grown after the French Open, with Andy Roddick remaining the last man from the country to win a Grand Slam, which took place at the US Open all the way back in 2003.
American women have simply added further pressure on their ATP equivalents, with Madison Keys and Coco Gauff representing the two WTA Grand Slam champions of 2025 so far.
