Emma Raducanu will be working on her fitness ahead of the Wimbledon Championships.

The 23-year-old has struggled with injuries throughout her career, including double wrist and ankle surgery which forced her to miss 10 months of action in 2023.

The British number one is now on the road to Wimbledon, where she will aim to reach the quarter-finals for the first time.

But she is managing a back injury, which could put Raducanu’s chances of a strong run at the All-England club in jeopardy.

Emma Raducanu provides fitness update ahead of Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu began her grass court season at the Queen’s Club Championships, which returned to the WTA Tour after a 52-year absence.

The World number 39 reached the quarter-finals but was comfortably beaten by Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng.

Following that event Raducanu was due to compete at the Berlin Open, but she withdrew due to a back injury.

Though she played at Eastbourne the following week, where the 2021 US Open winner managed just one victory, after which she broke down in tears.

With Wimbledon commencing on Monday, there is plenty for Raducanu to manage as she admits the challenges she is facing both physically and emotionally.

“I feel quite tired. Just going through some stuff and I need to do my best to get my head in the game ahead of next week,” Raducanu said.

“Realistically, the turnaround is pretty soon  – it’s only four days away really that the Wimbledon Championships starts.”

Emma Raducanu set for fourth Wimbledon appearance

For the fourth time in her career, Raducanu is set to compete at Wimbledon.

She has reached the fourth round on two occasions, on debut in 2021 and her most recent campaign in 2024.

Raducanu will enter the tournament unseeded and will be a dangerous opponent early on for the seeded players.

She will be cheered by her home fans who are desperate to see a British woman win Wimbledon.

No woman from British shores has lifted the Venus Rosewater dish since Virginia Wade in 1977. Can Raducanu end the barren run at Wimbledon this year?
