Emma Raducanu has set up a mouthwatering Miami Open clash with Emma Navarro after thrashing Sayaka Ishii.

The Great Britain star is hoping to find some consistency in 2025 after enjoying a year that was largely free of injuries in 2024.

It’s been a long road to this point for Raducanu, The world was tipped to be taken by storm after her US Open win in 2021 but injuries have robbed her of a chance to dominate the sport.

Raducanu has been searching for a consistent coach. A few people have tried – and failed – with seemingly nothing sticking when it comes to her corner at the moment.

Jack Draper has been hailed by Raducanu this week and now the 22-year-old will hope to get her own career back on track in the coming months.

America has been a happy hunting ground for Raducanu in the past and the hope will be that silverware will soon be gracing her grasp once more.

Emma Raducanu might have dropped clue over new coach

It’s come to light that Emma Raducanu has ended her relationship with coach Vladimir Platenik after just 14 days.

However, this is something that Raducanu should be criticised for.

The experiment was only a trial anyway and clearly, the youngster feels as though she can do better, choosing to move in a different direction.

Yesterday, long-term coach and friend Jane O’Donoghue was in her box alongside Colin Beecher from the LTA and fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura.

Eagle-eyed fans also spotted another intriguing face watching Raducanu, with Andy Murray’s former coach Mark Petchey also watching on.

Another fan said: “Good to see Petchey around this match.”

Mark Petchey’s record coaching Andy Murray

The former professional player helped Murray shape into the world-class player that he undoubtedly became.

He led the Great Britain star into the top 50 of the world for the first time before the pair went in different directions in 2006.

Murray said of Petchey following the split: “We’ve had a great run together but we’ve had a difference of opinion regarding some aspects of my game.

“I’ve not thought about my next coach and will take time to find one who can help develop the next stages of my tennis. We are not in a hurry.”

Murray had barely been on the tour for a year when the pair decided to split and it proved a solid one given that the player went on to win three Grand Slam titles.

Given his record of sticking Murray in the right shape, perhaps he’s perfect for Raducanu at this moment.

Petchey knows the game inside out and quite clearly, he’s a respected figure around Great British tennis and he will get Raducanu back to basics.

There are bigger names who Raducanu could have working with her but at this moment in time, nobody feels like a better fit for the player who is ranked at number 60 in the world.
