Emma Raducanu is delighted for Jack Draper after his success at Indian Wells.

The British number one can now call himself a top 10 player after Draper won the first Masters 1000 title of his career.

He defeated the likes of teenage sensation Joao Fonseca, home favourites Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz, before becoming the first player to beat Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells since 2022.

Draper saved his best performance for last as he conceded just four games against Holger Rune in Sunday’s final, and now he is at the Miami Open aiming to repeat his success.

Emma Raducanu says if Jack Draper’s Indian Wells success has taken some of her spotlight

Other than three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray, Emma Raducanu has been Britain’s biggest tennis star since her historic run to the 2021 US Open title.

She became a household name overnight and was soon made the face of several advertising and marketing campaigns after winning her first major as a qualifier and without dropping a set.

But while Raducanu has struggled for form and consistency since her success in New York, Jack Draper has gone from strength to strength and he has now claimed one of the ATP Tour’s biggest titles.

As he hunts for more success and his name and brand continues to grow, Raducanu commented on sharing the spotlight with her fellow Brit and if she thinks she has lost some of it.

“I think, yes, he has got a big spotlight. I don’t know if it necessarily takes it all away from me,” she told reporters at the Miami Open.

“I definitely feel certain things but I am happy to see him front and centre and shining and the golden boy right now.”

Emma Raducanu shares her opinion on Jack Draper

When healthy and feeling confident in his game, Draper proved exactly what he is capable of at Indian Wells.

This was the third title win of his career and the 23-year-old has lost just one completed match in 2025 so far.

Raducanu expressed her delight for her compatriot and was pleased to see him overcome some setbacks to win one of tennis’ top titles.

“I am so happy for Jack. I have known him for a long time and we are great friends, so it’s great to see him doing well,” Raducanu added.

“I know he has had his fair share of challenges so to see him overcome that I am really pleased for him.”
