Wimbledon is now just a few short days away as players prepare for their first-round matches.
The Australian Open and French Open were great successes, as fans watched Jannik Sinner, Madison Keys, Carlos Alcaraz, and Coco Gauff achieve Grand Slam glory.
All four players will no doubt be looking to add to their Major tally at Wimbledon, none more so than Alcaraz, who returns to the All England Club as a two-time defending champion.

The likes of Novak Djokovic on the men’s side and Aryna Sabalenka on the women’s side are also likely to be in contention during the latter stages of the tournament.
With the draw now released, fans can start to get excited about the first round of matches, as some ties look truly unmissable.
The top five Wimbledon first-round matches you can’t miss

Carlos Alcaraz v Fabio Fognini
Searching for title number three at Wimbledon in 2025, Alcaraz will begin his campaign against the entertaining Italian, Fabio Fognini.
The 38-year-old last won a Grand Slam match at Wimbledon 12 months ago and enters this tournament riding a five-match losing streak.

Fognini won’t be bothered by that, as he often shines brightest on the biggest of stages, and there are none bigger than Centre Court at Wimbledon.
Choosing to watch their first-round clash would be a wise choice, as Alcaraz and Fognini will likely put on a show in their opener.
Petra Kvitova v Emma Navarro
Two-time champion Petra Kvitova was the only non-British player to receive a Wild Card into the main draw of the women’s event.
Unfortunately for Kvitova, she’s been handed a nightmare draw in the first round, where she will take on America’s Emma Navarro.
Navarro beat Coco Gauff at Wimbledon last year en route to the quarterfinals, where she came up short against Jasmine Paolini.
The world number ten will have extra motivation returning to Grand Slam action after suffering a shock defeat in her opening match at Roland Garros last month.
Barbora Krejcikova v Alexandra Eala
In 2024, Barbora Krejcikova beat Paolini to win Wimbledon, clinching her second Grand Slam title.
However, things haven’t quite gone to plan since as Krejcikova has won just seven singles matches in the past 12 months.
There are also some real fitness worries for the Czech star, following Krejcikova’s withdrawal from Eastbourne due to a thigh issue.

She won’t have an easy start to her Wimbledon title defence, having been drawn against Filipino star Alexandra Eala in round one.
The youngster, who shocked the world earlier this year when she qualified for the Miami Open semi-finals, could pose real problems for the 29-year-old.
Reaching her first WTA grass-court semi-final at Eastbourne, Eala proved she certainly has the game to play well on the surface, something Krejcikova may find out first-hand next week.
Joao Fonseca v Jacob Fearnley
Over the past six months, Joao Fonseca has become one of the ATP Tour’s most exciting stars, drawing huge crowds wherever he goes.
Rarely has Fonseca played a match without mass crowd support, although that may just be the case when he plays his first-round match at Wimbledon.
Coming up against home-favorite Jacob Fearnley, who played Djokovic at Wimbledon last year, Fonseca will have to find a way to beat both the Brit and the British crowd if he wants to advance to round two.
Neither player has lost a first-round Grand Slam match in their careers to date, so it will be interesting to see who can continue their streak at Wimbledon.
Taylor Fritz v Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard
Taylor Fritz is one of the best grass-court players in the men’s game today and would normally be a safe bet to reach the second week of Wimbledon.
However, as stumbling blocks go, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is literally and figuratively one of the biggest around.

The big Frenchman hasn’t had the best of years in 2025, but when his serve is firing, he can cause problems for anyone, especially on the quicker grass courts.
Reaching the fourth round in 2024, Perricard would love to go even further this time around, and may just kick off his campaign with a big win over the number-five seed.
Only time will tell who will advance to the second round of Wimbledon, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action when the tournament begins on Monday, June 30.
