A former tennis player was left concerned following Coco Gauff’s interactions with her box at Wimbledon.
The World number two was the favourite of many to win the title, but she suffered a shock third round defeat to US compatriot Emma Navarro.
Gauff looked out of sorts as she struggled to find solutions when the match started to slip out of her grasp.
The 20-year-old could not turn the match around and ultimately suffered a routine 6-4, 6-3 defeat as Navarro moved into her first Grand Slam quarter-final.

During the contest against Navarro, Gauff was seen pleading with her team for help as she tried to overturn the deficit.
Coaching from the box is now permitted in tennis matches and Gauff was seen telling her team: “Tell me something. You guys aren’t saying anything.”
Both Gauff and her coach Brad Gilbert looked equally as frustrated as the player began to commit more errors. Discussing the incident on BBC, former player Chanda Rubin expressed her disappointment with what took place.
“I felt this was over the top and I couldn’t recall ever seeing Coco Gauff show that kind of emotion, that kind of back and forth and that kind of really being lost out there, that’s what she was projecting,” she said.
“If you are relying on them so much for that information you can really feel like you are floundering out there and that just exacerbates a problem in front of thousands of people out there. So for Gauff that wasn’t a great moment for her.”

Coco Gauff stressed what she wanted from her team during Wimbledon defeat
For the third time in her career Gauff’s Wimbledon campaign came to an end in the fourth round. It remains the only Grand Slam in which the tennis star has yet to reach the quarter-finals.
Post-match Gauff opened up on the discussions with her box and admitted she wanted help from her team, and admitted she was unable to come up with a way to put pressure on Navarro.
“I don’t always ask for advice on the box. Today was one of those rare moments where I felt I didn’t have solutions,” she told the press after the match.
“I think today mentally there was a lot going on. I felt like I wanted more direction from the box. It’s happened before. I wouldn’t say it’s happened before with the combination of JC and Brad, but it’s happened before in the past where I felt like I needed more direction. They usually give me something.
“I felt today I don’t think we were all in sync. It’s no one’s blame except myself. I mean, I’m the player out there. I have to make decisions for myself on the court.”
