With 2024 coming to a close, it’s time to look ahead to 2025 and predict who will top the rankings this time next year.
The 2024 ATP season was a classic, as fans witnessed a real changing of the guard, as Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz established themselves as the two best players in men’s tennis.
Sinner won the Australian Open, before taking home the US Open title later in the year, whilst Alcaraz won his first French Open title, before defending his Wimbledon crown.

Elsewhere, Novak Djokovic slipped down the rankings after playing a much shorter schedule in 2024, and Taylor Fritz had a career-best year as he rose to world number four.
| Rank | Name | Points |
| 1 | Jannik Sinner | 11,830 |
| 2 | Alexander Zverev | 7,915 |
| 3 | Carlos Alcaraz | 7,010 |
| 4 | Taylor Fritz | 5,100 |
| 5 | Daniil Medvedev | 5,030 |
| 6 | Casper Ruud | 4,255 |
| 7 | Novak Djokovic | 3,910 |
| 8 | Andrey Rublev | 3,760 |
| 9 | Alex de Minaur | 3,745 |
| 10 | Grigor Dimitrov | 3,350 |
There were plenty of other names that impressed this year, as Alex de Minaur and Grigor Dimitrov made their way in to the top ten, and Casper Ruud maintained his place amongst the world’s elite.
Things could well look very different in 2025, however, as The Tennis Gazette predicts the 2025 ATP year-end top-ten.
Predicting the ATP year-end top ten for 2025
1. Jannik Sinner
Remaining at number one could well be the standout performer of 2024, Sinner.
Providing the Italian isn’t hit with a significant ban for Sinner’s doping violation, he could dominate the tour for another year.
The 23-year-old won two Grand Slam titles, three Masters 1000’s, the ATP Finals, and the Davis Cup this season, as he pulled away as the best player in men’s tennis.

Predicting anyone other than Sinner to end next year as number one seems ever so slightly farfetched, as the Italian could even look to extend his gap at the top.
2. Novak Djokovic
Surging back towards the top of men’s tennis in 2025 will be Djokovic.
Djokovic, now partnered with Andy Murray will hope to get back to winning ways next year, having failed to win an ATP title this time around.

Despite the Serb being unlikely to play a full schedule next year, if he can maximize his points haul from the big tournaments, it wouldn’t be a big shock to see him back towards the business end of the top ten.
3. Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev is yet to win a Grand Slam title, and that may be what stops him from progressing in 2025.
The German just can’t seem to push on to that next level, no matter how hard he tries, and might go one more year as the ‘nearly man’ of tennis.

Third in the world is still a lot to be thankful for, and Zverev will look to add to his impressive haul of Master 1000 trophies next season.
4. Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz won two Grand Slam titles in 2024, but somehow finished just third in the world, and could slip even further in the new year.
No mark on his ability whatsoever, but Alcaraz might struggle to play the pure quantity of matches that his rivals can, due to his fast-paced, all-action style.
That doesn’t mean that he won’t be a big favorite to win Slams and Masters 1000 titles in 2025, but it’s tough to imagine him maintaining that level throughout the year, in the same way that the top three can.
5. Daniil Medvedev
Remaining at number five for the second consecutive year, Daniil Medvedev might be one to look out for in 2025.
One of the harder players to judge on tour, you can never quite tell if Medvedev is on the come up or come down, and that could well be the case again next year.

Medvedev was a finalist at last year’s Australian Open and will hope to start his year off on the right foot again with a good performance in Melbourne.
6. Taylor Fritz
Fritz reached his first Grand Slam final in 2024 at the US Open, as he finished the year fourth in the world.
The American number one could be set for a small step backward in the new year, however, as some of the top names in men’s tennis rediscover their form.

Still, sixth in the world is nothing to turn your nose up at, and Fritz could have a great year in the top ten.
7. Arthur Fils
Tennis didn’t quite have its annual young star breaking into the top ten this year, but maybe they just took a year out in order to prepare for Arthur Fils.
The Frenchman made some big strides forward in 2024, as Fils won two ATP 500 titles, on his rise to 20th in the world.

If he can make another step up, and start performing at Masters 1000, and Grand Slam events, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see him establish himself in the top ten.
8. Stefanos Tsitsipas
Stefanos Tsitsipas was one of the big names to drop out of the top ten in 2024, but he might not be out for too long.
The Greek struggled badly in the second half of this year, but Tsitsipas has outlined his plans for the new year, and returning to the top ten is right at the top of that list.

He seems to be more determined than ever, and the 26-year-old could be a dark horse for the clay court season in 2025.
9. Matteo Berrettini
Perhaps the biggest surprise on this list, the top ten could welcome back Matteo Berrettini in 2025, having fallen out due to injury in the past few years.
The big-serving Italian can be a huge threat on all three surfaces, as shown by his performances in 2021-22, where he made five Grand Slam quarter-finals or better in five appearances, including a final at Wimbledon.

He showed some of his previous form at the Davis Cup Finals, which were won by Italy, and if he can carry that momentum into 2025, he could well find his way back into the top ten.
10. Andrey Rublev
Andrey Rublev has finished the last five years ranked inside the world’s top ten, and it wouldn’t surprise too many to see him there again next time around.
A slight decline could be on the cards next year, however, from his current ranking of eighth, with others around him making strides.

Rublev has been criticized for a lack of variation in recent months, something that could come back to haunt him in the new year.
