Emma Raducanu is already thinking about her next steps after the Italian Open, where she only just exited at the hands of Coco Gauff.
Raducanu fell in the round of 16 of the Italian Open, the latest WTA 1000 tournament in the 2025 schedule.
The Briton had been impressing in Rome, but was ultimately outdone by fourth seed Gauff, who defeated her 6-1, 6-2.
Prior to that meeting between two former US Open champions, Raducanu had overcome Maya Joint, Jil Teichmann and Veronika Kudermetova.
The WTA number 49 will soon turn her focus to the French Open, which represents the next Grand Slam in the calendar.
Emma Raducanu accepts Strasbourg wildcard after Italian Open exit
She has, however, decided to play one more tournament before Roland Garros gets underway later this month.
The former British number one has accepted a wildcard to play in Strasbourg, a WTA 500 event next week.
It will represent a 10th tournament of the season for the 22-year-old, who once reached 10th in the world rankings.
Emma Raducanu makes interesting decision prior to the French Open
It is certainly an interesting decision from Raducanu, who showed glimpses of the player she knows she can be in Italy.
The Briton has won just one WTA Tour title so far in her career, which remarkably came at the 2021 US Open.
She has been plagued by injuries since lifting the iconic trophy in Flushing Meadows at the age of just 18, where she overcame Leylah Fernandez in an entertaining final.
Such injury problems have been apparent in 2025, with Raducanu certainly taking a risk in playing another tournament right after a lengthy run at the Italian Open.
Moreover, the WTA 500 event comes right before the French Open, which is certain to be hugely demanding both physically and mentally.
At the same time, however, Raducanu should be commended for wanting to keep her form going into the Grand Slam, with another opportunity for success now going her way.
