Carlos Alcaraz has continued his phenomenal season by reaching the final of the Cincinnati Open, where he meets Jannik Sinner.
Both Alcaraz and Sinner are playing their first tournaments since last month’s Wimbledon final, which the Italian won.
The ATP number one exacted his revenge on the world number two in London, having lost the French Open final to the Spaniard shortly before.
Another reunion is now set for the Cincinnati Open, with Alcaraz taking an 8-5 win-loss record over Sinner into the final.
But it isn’t just in that regard that the Spanish superstar has been shining, with the five-time Grand Slam champion deserving huge praise for his latest efforts.

Carlos Alcaraz isn’t getting the credit he deserves after reaching Cincinnati Open final
Alcaraz needed more consistency in 2025 after falling off somewhat in late 2024, and it’s fair to say he’s more than answered that call.
He has now remarkably won 38 of his last 40 matches, and has proven more often than not that when the going gets tough he knows how to grind out a win.
Moreover, the Spaniard has just reached a seventh consecutive ATP final and ninth career ATP Masters 1000 final.
It is, of course, worth remembering that he’s already reached number one in the world rankings, and boasts the small matter of five Grand Slam titles.
Any criticism towards Alcaraz is, therefore, fully undeserved, and fortunately it looks like it hasn’t impacted him in a negative way as he continues to go from strength to strength.
He even has the added weight on his shoulders of many people expecting him to take over from another Spanish icon, but Alcaraz doesn’t want to be labelled Rafael Nadal’s successor.
Who has Carlos Alcaraz beaten en route to the Cincinnati Open final?
The superlatives have simply run out for the 22-year-old superstar, with the records rapidly following suit.
Following his win over Zverev in Cincinnati, he is the third-youngest player to reach nine ATP Masters finals, after Rafael Nadal (20) and Novak Djokovic (21).
Alcaraz has a fantastic win rate at ATP Masters 1000 level, which should serve as a real warning to Sinner for their upcoming encounter.
At the same time, however, the Italian has also been in formidable form, and that should mean another thrilling battle is on the cards between the pair.
For both players, such form has arrived at a fantastic time in the ATP calendar, with the US Open starting next month.
New York was incidentally the site of Alcaraz’s maiden Grand Slam title, where he defeated Casper Ruud to lift the prestigious trophy in 2022.
