Carlos Alcaraz faces another meeting with Jannik Sinner after knocking Alexander Zverev out of the Cincinnati Open.
Zverev wasn’t feeling great after defeating Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals, with his issues also coming to the fore against Alcaraz.
The German wasn’t 100% as he lost 6-4, 6-3 to the Spaniard, who has now reached a seventh successive final on the ATP Tour.
Alcaraz will reunite with Jannik Sinner in the Cincinnati Open final, with both players taking part in their first tournaments since reaching the Wimbledon final.
At the All England Club, it was the Italian who came out on top, with top seed Sinner coming from behind to defeat second seed Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Serena Williams’ former coach compares Carlos Alcaraz and Roger Federer
World number two Alcaraz can be hugely proud of his efforts against Zverev and indeed at the Cincinnati Open in general.
He’s certainly attracted the attention of Serena Williams’ former coach Rick Macci, drawing comparisons to a legend of the game.
Macci wrote on X: “Alcaraz and his total understanding of every microscopic particle regarding the geometry of the court is the best the sport has seen since the Swiss Army Knife Roger Federer. Most of all they both have every tool in the box and know when and exactly how to use them.”
Unfortunately for fans, Alcaraz and Federer never got to meet on the court, with the Swiss star having retired not long after the Spaniard turned professional.
Fortunately, however, Alcaraz and Sinner are playing out a thrilling rivalry on the ATP Tour, and it is set to continue in Cincinnati.
Fans have been treated to many phenomenal battles between the pair so far, and there are undoubtedly many, many more to come.
This season alone, the two biggest ATP superstars have met in the Wimbledon, French Open and Italian Open finals.
