The All England Club has confirmed that Wimbledon will offer an all-time record prize pool for a Grand Slam event at its 2024 tournament as elite tennis returns to London.
Players from the world over will descend on SW19 in July looking to take the singles titles off Carlos Alcaraz and Marketa Vondrousova. But those competing at Wimbledon will also relish an increase of more than 10% in the total prize pool compared to last year’s championships.
Alcaraz and Vondrousova each banked £2.35m with their triumphs in 2023 after Wimbledon beat its previous prize money record from 2019. The tournament had decreased the cash on offer when the tournament returned in 2021 following its cancellation in 2020 due to Covid.

Wimbledon 2024 sets a Grand Slam record with £50m available in prize money
Wimbledon will now again set a new record in 2024 as the All England Club has confirmed a record prize pool for any Grand Slam event. iNews journalist James Gray reports that it has declared a total prize pool of £50m for this year’s championships, up from £44.7m in 2023.
Additionally, the singles champions will each receive £2.7m in prize money for winning the titles at Wimbledon 2024. While any players who lose in the first round will also earn £60k for their appearance at the tournament. Any first-round losers during 2023 received £55k.
Wimbledon has doubled its prize pool in the past 10 years
It makes Wimbledon 2024 the most lucrative Grand Slam event ever as players fight over a share of £50m in prize money. The total amount on offer is also double the £25m available 10 years ago when the singles champions over the 2014 championship took home £1.76m.

The All England Club is even offering a prize pool almost four times as great as the money available for players to win at Wimbledon 20 years ago. The 2004 tournament featured an allocated £9.7m pool with the champions receiving £602k compared to the £2.7m in 2024.
Wimbledon has also beaten the £46m that Roland Garros put up as its prize money for the 2024 tournament. Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek further took home £2.05m for winning the 2024 French Open singles titles after defeating Alexander Zverev and Jasmine Paolini respectively.
