It is the first time that both Paolini and Krejcikova have made the singles final at Wimbledon. But Krejcikova has already tasted success on the grass courts in SW19 before as the Czech won the doubles title in 2018 and even 2022 with compatriot Katerina Siniakova by her side.
Krejcikova will now strive to add a singles title to the No31 seed’s past Wimbledon triumphs against Paolini. The No7 seed is also the first Italian to appear in the women’s singles final at Wimbledon after defeating Donna Vekic 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) in a two-hour, 51-minute slog.
Paoli spurned two match points and was even 8-7 behind in the 10-point tie-break to reach the 2024 women’s Wimbledon final. Krejcikova, meanwhile, had to claw back to edge Elena Rybakina in her semi-final but never looked back once in control to claim a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win.
Now, Wimbledon will have a seventh new women’s singles champion in as many editions of the championship. Taking the Venus Rosewater Dish would be Krejcikova’s second slam title after winning the 2021 French Open, while Paolini is eying her first slam title at Wimbledon.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club has scheduled the 2024 Wimbledon women’s singles final to be held on Centre Court, which carries a maximum capacity of 14,979 seated spectators.

Coverage starts on BBC One at 13:15 BST as Clare Bolding presents its 45-minute build-up programme ahead of the 2024 Wimbledon women’s singles final. The BBC also intends to keep its broadcast on BBC One until 18:30 BST, at which point coverage turns to BBC Two.
