Daniil Medvedev was seen speaking to Jaume Munar at the net after beating him at the Paris Masters.

Medvedev was beaten by Munar in their only previous meeting at the Miami Open earlier this year, but he was able to get revenge after beating the Spaniard, 6-1 6-3.

This has continued the former world number one’s recent return to form, with Medvedev winning the Almaty Open this month.

Medvedev lost to Corentin Moutet at the Vienna Open last week, but he has now returned to winning ways after beating Munar.

What Daniil Medvedev said to Jaume Munar at the net after beating him in Paris

Medvedev is no stranger to drama in matches, and he was heard apologising to Munar in an exchange after their match.

However, on this occasion Medvedev’s apology to Munar was made in good jest as the pair joked after their match.

Medvedev produced an impressive display to beat the in-form world number 36 in just over an hour, and both he and Munar joked about how well he played after the match.

Munar said, “If you play like that…Good luck!”

Medvedev responded, “It happens once a year, sorry.”

The former US Open champion still has a slim opportunity to qualify for the year-end ATP Finals, but Medvedev will have to continue playing like he did against Munar if he is to stand any chance of doing so.

Daniil Medvedev provides update on how he is feeling physically after winning first match in Paris

Medvedev recently revealed he had been struggling with a physical issue, and after his victory over Munar he was asked by Tennis Bolshoi about how he was feeling physically at this late stage of the season.

While he admitted to feeling a little sore, Medvedev explained that he was actually surprised by how positive he was feeling.

“It’s more difficult than easy, because everyone is a little sore somewhere…When it’s at the beginning of the season it’s not so bad, but by the end you’ve already suffered through it so much, it’s even harder,” said Medvedev.

“But again I felt good on court, let’s say I was pleasantly surprised and during the match I felt more and more joy that I was playing well, in general, and I felt good, so I hope that in the next matches it will only get better.”

Medvedev has little time to recover ahead of his second round match, as he takes on Grigor Dimitrov, who has recently returned to the ATP Tour for the first time since suffering an injury at Wimbledon.

This will be a 12th meeting between the pair, with Medvedev leading the head-to-head against Dimitrov 8-3.
