Daniil Medvedev has claimed his 21st ATP title and first since 2023 after beating Corentin Moutet to win the Almaty Open.

Medvedev split sets with his final opponent, Moutet, and the Frenchman looked poised to close in on the upset and secure a maiden tour-level crown.

The Russian ultimately clinched the decider, however, to emerge victorious, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, and end his 882-day title drought.

In fine form recently, Medvedev looks back to his very best on the ATP Tour, having now earned his 38th win of 2025.

In his on-court interview after winning the Almaty Open, Medvedev said: “It’s great. I was not super happy with the way I played in some moments of the match, but to win feels amazing.

“It means that in the most important points of the match I managed to play good. The last match was actually incredible. I’m happy to win the title. It continues my funny story of 21 titles in 21 different cities.”

When asked what is next for him, Medvedev responded: “Well, I’m flying at five in the morning, so I’ll see if I can get some sleep, probably not.

“I have to play in Vienna in a couple of days. It’s not going to be easy, but I’m going to try. There are only two tournaments left, and I want to try to do my best.”
