The 2024 ATP awards have been handed out, recognizing the stars in men’s tennis for their efforts this season.
Several ATP awards were up for grabs this week, including Fans’ Favorite, Comeback Player of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Sportsmanship Award, and Newcomer of the Year.
Jannik Sinner won the Fans’ Favorite award for the second year running, as the tennis world recognized the Italian for his efforts in 2024.

Jakub Mensik and Juncheng Shang were nominated for the ATP Newcomer of the Year award, after their breakout years on the ATP Tour.
Shang won the Chengdu Open in his native China earlier this year, as he beat Italian star Lorenzo Musetti in the final.
The pair are both ranked inside the top 50 and are two of the youngest rising stars in men’s tennis, but only one could come away with the trophy.
Jakub Mensik wins the 2024 ATP Newcomer of the Year award
Czech 19-year-old Mensik took home the award thanks to multiple impressive performances in 2024.
He reached the third round of the US Open before Mensik lost to Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters, his best Masters 1000 result to date.
The world number 48 thanked his fans on social media after receiving the award.
“I’m super happy and honoured to be the Newcomer of the Year,” he said.
“With this ATP award I’d like to say a big thank you to all of you for your votes and to all of the fans around the world for your support and love, it really means a lot.”
Where are the last ten winners of the ATP Newcomer of the Year award now?
Mensik is the latest ATP star to pick up the award, but how have the most recent winners got on since they won the prize?

It’s fairly clear to see that more often than not, taking home the award leads to pretty big things on the ATP Tour, with five of the last ten winners currently residing in the world’s top ten.
Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the two Slam winners of the list, having combined for six Major titles, whilst Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz have both reached finals.
Winning the award isn’t a guarantee for success, however, as three of the last ten winners have fallen out of the world’s top 50.
Things really haven’t worked out for American Jenson Brooksby, who hasn’t played tennis since serving his 13-month suspension for a doping violation.
It remains to be seen how Mensik will fare in the coming years, but he’ll certainly be looking to Sinner and Alcaraz for inspiration.
Mensik will begin his 2025 season at the Brisbane International which begins on December 30.
