Jiri Lehecka’s dream of capturing a maiden ATP Masters 1000 title came to an end in the Miami Open final.

After recording an impressive campaign, Lehecka lost to Jannik Sinner in the championship match, 6-4, 6-4.

The Italian became just the eighth man ever to complete the Sunshine Double, having won the Indian Wells crown earlier this month.

Lehecka achieved his best result at an ATP Masters 1000 event, nearly two years after his semifinal finish at the 2024 Madrid Open.

With the lengthy run in the 305, the Czech star has secured a new career-high ranking.

Jiri Lehecka’s new ATP ranking after making the Miami Open final

Prior to the Miami Open, Lehecka was ranked 22nd in the world, having matched his second-round finish at the Indian Wells Open from 2025.

After reaching the title bout in Miami, Lehecka has moved up eight places in the ATP rankings and is now placed 14th.

Lehecka is one of many stars to claim a career-high ranking, one of whom is Flavio Cobolli, who, despite suffering an early exit in Miami, is now the world number 13.

Jiri Lehecka’s impressive campaign at the 2026 Miami Open

Lehecka kicked off his run at the Miami Open with straight-set wins over 17-year-old Moise Kouame and Ethan Quinn.

In round four, he earned a huge victory over sixth seed Taylor Fritz, battling past the American in three sets.

He followed it up with a triumph over Spain’s Martin Landaluce, before dominating Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-2.

Lehecka gave his all in the final with Sinner, but the world number two was simply unstoppable, particularly on serve.

Sinner recorded a first serve win percentage of 92%, and was not broken once throughout the match.
