Jiri Lehecka was unable to break the dominance of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in the Miami Open final.

Lehecka beat the likes of Arthur Fils and Taylor Fritz to reach the biggest final of his career at the Miami Open.

However, the 24-year-old was unable to take home the title, as Sinner won the Miami Open after beating Lehecka 6-4, 6-4.

This has continued a dominant run for both Sinner and Alcaraz, and Lehecka has now revealed if he thinks this is good for men’s tennis.

Jiri Lehecka thinks Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s dominance is ‘great’ for men’s tennis

There have been some suggestions that Alcaraz and Sinner dominating men’s tennis has become somewhat boring, but Lehecka does not appear to agree.

When speaking in his post-match press conference after losing in the Miami Open final, Lehecka claimed that Sinner and Alcaraz are ‘very good’ for men’s tennis.

Lehecka also suggested that it is good for him as a player to face the likes of Sinner, as it shows him what he still needs to improve on.

“It’s not the first time in tennis when we can see this happening,” said Lehecka, as reported by miamiopen.com. “I think we saw this happening many times before with players with different names. But I think that it’s great, actually.

“I think it’s very good for the sport, and I think it’s also very good for us, meaning the rest of the Tour, because it shows us the limits, and it shows us that we really need to improve our game to be able to beat them, not just once but to beat them on the biggest stages and beat them more than once.”

Lehecka continued, “These matches like today against these guys are showing me that there is still big, big room for improvement. I played, in my opinion, a very good tournament here. I was very satisfied with my game.

“But today I again saw that there is still somewhere to go, and that I will really need to keep improving more and more if I want to be able to beat these guys in the final stages of these big events like Masters and Grand Slams.”

Has Jiri Lehecka ever beaten Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner?

Lehecka’s loss in the Miami Open final was his fourth consecutive defeat to Sinner in their very one-sided head-to-head.

However, it was much closer than their previous meeting at Roland Garros last year, where Lehecka only won three games in as many sets against Sinner.

While he has never beaten Sinner, Lehecka does have a win over Alcaraz, which he achieved at the Qatar Open last year.

This levelled their head-to-head at 1-1, but Alcaraz has since taken a 3-1 lead after beating Lehecka in the final of the Queen’s Club Championships and the quarterfinals of the US Open.
