Taylor Fritz has come through his first match at the ATP Finals by beating Lorenzo Musetti in a one-sided match, first up on day two at the tournament.

Fritz lost to Jannik Sinner in the final in Turin last year, and in 2025, he will be eyeing up redemption and his name being engraved on the trophy for a maiden title.

Fritz was pleased with his performance against Musetti, and now he can take some confidence into his next group match against Carlos Alcaraz on Tuesday.

Tim Henman noticed something very impressive about Fritz, and it would appear that the courts are suiting his style of play and his big-serving nature.

What Taylor Fritz thinks about the conditions at the ATP Finals

It would appear as though Fritz is happy with the conditions in Turin, and that might give him a very good chance of causing a stir at this year’s event.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Gigi Salmon and Tim Henman have been discussing what Fritz has been saying to Ryan Harrison, who is also on the punditry team.

Salmon shared some information that Harrison passed on from Fritz, and it seems that he’s really comfortable with the conditions in Italy.

Salmon said on Sky Sports Tennis: “He is loving these conditions.

“We have been chatting with Ryan Harrison, who has been speaking to Taylor Fritz, and Taylor said to him that ‘I love the way the ball is flying through the air, I feel really comfortable on this speed of an indoor hard court.’”

Henman agreed that Fritz should be confident coming into this event and added: “I think pretty much any hard court Fritz is going to be comfortable because that really helps his movement.

“He has a sure footing and he can take the ball early. He can trust a perfect bounce, so from Fritz and his whole team’s point of view, 10/10 for this performance.”

Fritz must call on Laver Cup experience to beat Carlos Alcaraz

When it comes to competitive matches, Fritz hasn’t done well against Alcaraz at all, losing all three matches the pair have played.

They came most recently in the final of the Japan Open, with the Wimbledon semifinal back in July also going the way of Alcaraz, too.

Fritz knows he can defeat Alcaraz, having played a brilliant match against him on the way to a resounding win for Team World over Team Europe at the Laver Cup.

As a result, he will need to ensure that he’s got his game face on against him during their ATP Finals meeting and take confidence into the match that he can actually come out on top.

The winner of that match will be practically through to the semifinals and Fritz can take a giant step towards a knockout match if he can cause a shock and overcome Alcaraz.

Fritz has to start defeating Alcaraz and Sinner on a regular basis if he’s ever going to get over the line and win big events, and the next meeting with the Spaniard gives the 28-year-old a sizeable opportunity.
