Sofia Kenin has just clinched a spot in the final of the Charleston Open, having made it past an injured Amanda Anisimova in their semi-final.

Kenin will meet Jessica Pegula in the Charleston Open final, with the latter having beaten Ekaterina Alexandrova in their semi-final.

Pegula battled the wind in her meeting with Alexandrova as she triumphed 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, while Anisimova retired hurt during her match with Kenin.

WTA four Pegula is the top seed at the Charleston Open, and has now reached back-to-back finals after reaching the same stage at the Miami Open.

She lost that clash with world number one Aryna Sabalenka, and is now looking to bounce back against world number 44 Kenin.

Asked in her on-court interview what she said to Anisimova after her injury, Kenin said: “I told her I hope she feels better and recovers well because it’s a long clay swing and she’s been playing some great tennis throughout the year. I wish her the best of luck and I really hope she feels better.”

Sofia Kenin vs Jessica Pegula head-to-head record ahead of Charleston Open final

Anisimova certainly has been enjoying her 2025 season so far, with the American recently rising to a career-high ranking of 16th in the world.

The 23-year-old clinched her third WTA title at the Qatar Open in February, before knocking Indian Wells champion Mirra Andreeva out of the Miami Open.

But a right hip injury forced her to stop her meeting with Kenin early, with the 2020 Australian Open champion having been leading 5-2.

Eighth seed Anisimova had been impressing at the WTA 500 event, having beaten fourth seed Emma Navarro in the quarter-finals.

Experienced duo Kenin and Pegula meanwhile certainly have an intriguing head-to-head record ahead of their match, having met five times throughout their impressive careers.

And it is the latter who has just edged out the former thus far, with Pegula boasting three wins compared to Kenin’s two.
