Novak Djokovic’s pursuit of a 25th Grand Slam at this year’s Wimbledon Championships was brought to a halt by Jannik Sinner.

Sinner put on a dominant display to deny Djokovic a place in the final, with the defending champion winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

The Italian will take on Alexander Zverev in the final, as he bids to complete the second successful Grand Slam title defence of his career.

Zverev, who beat British wildcard Arthur Fery in the semifinals, is looking to clinch his second Grand Slam title immediately after winning his first.

Djokovic will have to wait until the US Open later this summer to have another go at surpassing Margaret Court to become the outright all-time leader in major crowns.

Rennae Stubbs reveals what Novak Djokovic did after the match

Former doubles Grand Slam champion Rennae Stubbs took to social media to reveal what Djokovic did after his loss to Sinner.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Stubbs said: “Just saw @DjokerNole walk into the gym & congratulate Jannik’s entire team & Jannik again.

“The behind-the-scenes things you learn about players & their respect for each other are always so nice to see.

Jannik Sinner can equal Rafael Nadal with win on Sunday

Sinner is in search of a fifth Grand Slam title overall at Wimbledon, and is now just one win away from capturing the trophy.

A title defence would see him pick up a second Wimbledon title, a tally that would equal tennis legend Rafael Nadal’s.

Nadal won 22 Grand Slams in his career, but claimed just two at the All England Club, in 2008 and 2010.

Fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz matched his record in 2024 when going back-to-back.

Now, Alcaraz’s great rival, Sinner, will have the chance to follow suit and become the only man in the Open Era with exactly five major singles titles to his name.
