Jannik Sinner ended Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon campaign with a dominant performance on Friday.
Sinner beat Djokovic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, and is now one win away from completing the second successful Grand Slam title defence of his career.
The Italian was simply too hot to handle for the 39-year-old, particularly on serve, having fired 16 aces while tallying a first-serve win percentage of 88% and facing just one break point, which he saved.
Prove me wrong – Jannik Sinner’s best surface is clay
If not, what is?
In the championship match, Sinner will now take on Alexander Zverev, against whom he is on a nine-match winning streak at tour-level events.
Ahead of the final, the world number one took to social media to send a message to Djokovic.

Jannik Sinner’s message to Novak Djokovic after Wimbledon clash
In a post on Instagram, Sinner said: Always a pleasure to share the court with you @djokernole.
“Thanks for a great match today. Honoured and grateful to be back in the final here at @wimbledon. See you all on Sunday.”
In a post of his own, Djokovic said: “Wimbledon, I have no words. Another epic fortnight at SW19. Thank you for your support, your energy, I appreciate it.
“Respect to @janniksin on a masterful performance. Good luck for the final. See you soon.”
Sinner’s clash with Djokovic was their second meeting of the 2026 season, following the five-set thriller they had at the Australian Open earlier this year.
At Melbourne Park, Djokovic snapped a five-match losing streak against Sinner to dethrone him and advance to the final, where he ultimately fell to Carlos Alcaraz.
Is men’s tennis boring without Carlos Alcaraz?
But this time, at Wimbledon, Sinner took the victory to extend his lead in the head-to-head to 7-5.
The head-to-head on grass is now even at two apiece, with Sinner emerging triumphant in their last two Wimbledon meetings.

Novak Djokovic’s last chance in 2026 to win a major
Djokovic now has just one more shot in 2026 at clinching a 25th Grand Slam title, which will come at the US Open.
He is a four-time champion at Flushing Meadows, having won the title there in 2011, 2015, 2018 and 2023.
Last year, Djokovic made it to the semifinals of the US Open, where he was beaten by eventual champion Alcaraz.
With Alcaraz still not confirmed to return for the US Open, it may be Djokovic’s last chance during the Spaniard’s injury to win a major.
