Emma Raducanu has appointed yet another coach to try and help revive her career, with a former member of Rafael Nadal’s team now deployed.
Raducanu enjoyed a run to the third round at Wimbledon before narrowly losing out to Aryna Sabalenka in two closely contested sets.
On Saturday, Amanda Anisimova praised Raducanu after beating her at the Canadian Open, and it’s clear that the 2021 US Open winner is highly respected on the tour.
Raducanu was clearly delighted to get through a match with Peyton Stearns earlier in the tournament, and perhaps now, she can finally settle with a new coach.

Emma Raducanu makes new coaching appointment
Francisco Roig is the new man who will be residing in Raducanu’s corner for the foreseeable future as the US Open looks set to take centre stage on the tennis calendar.
Raducanu knows what it takes to win the Flushing Meadows tournament and she will be desperate to go deep at one of the major competitions once again.
Roig’s appointment has left some question marks over the future of Mark Petchey, with Raducanu reuniting with her former coach earlier this year.
It would appear as though the tennis expert is still going to be loitering in the background when it comes to Raducanu, according to Matthew Lambwell, who writes for the Daily Mail.
He posted on X: “Mark Petchey was coaching Raducanu since Miami, but given he was juggling broadcast commitments, it was always the plan to find a more permanent coach. I understand that Petchey will stay close to team Raducanu as a confidante but Roig is coach number eight for the 22-year-old.”
Raducanu must now settle with Roig
In any professional sport, a coach needs time to build something and the constant swapping and changing is doing Raducanu no favours at all.
Roig has a brilliant history with Nadal and that level of experience when it comes to leading players to glory on the court makes him a coup for Raducanu.
The Spanish coach will now get to work with Raducanu ahead of the US Open, and hopefully, the pair can enjoy some positive results and climb up the rankings together.
Raducanu needs stability and with Roig in her corner, this could be the time for her to really kick on and start flexing her credentials once again.
