Jannik Sinner issued yet another defeat to Novak Djokovic as he edged past the Serbian at the Six Kings Slam.

Djokovic only just lost to Sinner in the Shanghai Masters final, where the Italian beat the 24-time Grand Slam winner in straight sets.

The pair were then drawn together in the Six Kings Slam, with Sinner following up his 7-6(7-4), 6-3 win in China with a 6-2, 6-7(0-7), 6-4 win in Riyadh.

Djokovic praised Sinner highly after the match, with the Italian now meeting Carlos Alcaraz in the final in Saudi Arabia.

It represents a repeat of the China Open final earlier this month, where the Spaniard overcame the world number one.

Sinner will, therefore, be out for revenge when they continue their exciting rivalry on the court, but it won’t be an easy test for the Italian for various reasons.

Firstly, Alcaraz is in formidable form, but secondly Sinner may have an injury issue, with his fellow professional Liam Broady noticing a problem for the Italian during his meeting with Djokovic.

Speaking on Sky Sports Tennis, the Briton said: “It seemed a couple of times moving out to the forehand, his left leg I think, at changeovers he was self-massaging with his elbow.

“Actually he just gave up on a couple of balls on his forehand side and still won the first set 6-2. He is just so tough to play. His serve is so big and he can keep the points short.”

Heavyweights Sinner and Alcaraz last met on court just over two weeks ago, when the latter won 6-7(6-8), 6-4, 7-6(7-3).

It was another exciting battle in their thrilling rivalry so far, which is set for another twist at the Six Kings Slam.

The tournament isn’t an ATP event, meaning their tour-recognised head-to-head record will not be impacted, with no ranking points on the line either.

Alcaraz therefore cannot extend his 6-4 lead, but plenty of pride will be at stake, along with the small matter of huge prize money.

And despite losing to Sinner, Djokovic has another match to play in Riyadh as he battles it out with Rafael Nadal for third place.
