Following Iga Swiatek’s shocking early exit in Rome, the Pole now has her eyes set on the second Grand Slam of the season.

Swiatek crashed out of the Italian Open in the third round, losing to Danielle Collins in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5.

The Pole is still in search of a title this season, with near misses at the Australian Open, the Qatar Open, Indian Wells, and most recently the Madrid Open, where Swiatek lost to Coco Gauff in the semi-finals.

The next chance to clinch her first trophy of 2025 comes at a tournament where she has had plenty of success in the past: Roland Garros.

Swiatek has won four of her five Grand Slam titles at the French Open and is currently the defending champion, with three consecutive titles clinched between 2022 and 2024.

With a record fourth-straight title up for grabs, the world number two has made an interesting move in her preparation for the tournament.

Iga Swiatek spotted training at Roland Garros ten days before the tournament

Swiatek has ruled out the possibility of playing one more tournament before her French Open title defence, having been spotted training at Roland Garros ten days before the tournament starts.

The official Roland Garros X page posted a video of the four-time champion practicing on the famous Court Philippe Chatrier.

Swiatek was predicted to follow in Djokovic’s footsteps by entering another tournament before the major, but the Pole has chosen to immediately travel to Paris following her early exit in the Eternal City.

A WTA 500 event in Strasbourg and a WTA 250 in Rabat were the two potential alternatives for Swiatek; both tournaments ending the day before Roland Garros starts.

Iga Swiatek’s incredible record at Roland Garros over the years

At just 23 years old, Swiatek has already tied the record for the most consecutive Roland Garros singles titles in the Open Era of the women’s game.

With her 2024 French Open triumph over Jasmine Paolini in the final, she equalled Monica Seles (1990-1992) and Justine Henin (2005-2007) for the record.

Swiatek needs just two more Roland Garros titles to equal Chris Evert for the most women’s singles titles at the event.

With six appearances at the tournament since her debut, she has only failed to win the French Open twice, with her losses coming in the Round of 16 in 2019 and the quarter-final in 2021.
