Coco Gauff is preparing to compete at the US Open for the seventh time.

Once again the 21-year-old will compete at her home Grand Slam as America’s top-ranked player, and with that comes plenty of scrutiny and expectation.

Gauff claimed her first Grand Slam title in New York in 2023 after coming from a set down to defeat Aryna Sabalenka.

Two years on and Gauff will enter the US Open third-seeded player. She will aim for glory at Flushing Meadows once again, and she will commence her campaign against Ajla Tomljanovic.

Coco Gauff’s upcoming US Open match against Tomljanovic will mark their second meeting.

Their first meeting took place in the opening round of the 2024 Paris Olympics Games, which was held at Roland Garros.

Fresh from Gauff carrying America’s flag with LeBron James at the opening ceremony she opened her campaign with a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Tomljanovic.

Gauff took just 57 minutes to seal victory and she converted six out of nine break point chances during the contest.

“I’m not going to lie: I was more nervous in doubles than in singles. I don’t know why. I think it’s just because it was the first match,” Gauff said after the match.

“And I think when you start off a tournament with a win, especially one like this, it just gives you more confidence.”

What is Coco Gauff’s 2025 US Open draw?

After opening the US Open against Tomljanovic, Gauff could play either Donna Vekic or Jessica Bouza Maneiro if she emerges victorious.

Gauff’s compatriot Peyton Stearns and Magdalena Frech could be Gauff’s third round opponent at the US Open, while a potential fourth round tie against Naomi Osaka or Daria Kasatkina could be on the cards.

The hard-hitting Australian Open champion Madison Keys could face Gauff in the quarterfinals, and if Gauff were to defeat her, she could meet another American in the semifinals.

Wimbledon runner-up Amanda Anisimova could be Gauff’s US Open semifinal opponent, or Iga Swiatek, who is back in top form after winning Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Open.

Should Gauff reach the US Open final, either world number one Sabalenka or Jessica Pegula could be standing across the net.
