Flavio Cobolli enjoyed an outstanding year in 2025, but he will not be content with where he currently stands.

After all, with the talent he boasts at such a young age, there’s no reason why the Italian shouldn’t be dreaming of reaching the very top.

Especially given how well-respected he already seems on tour, with both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner having spoken glowingly about him.

Having just practised with the former of the two recently ahead of the new 2026 campaign, Flavio Cobolli has now shared how his team reacted to watching the world’s best player.

Flavio Cobolli says where he wants to improve

Speaking to Ubitennis, he actually offered an insight into how his coaches felt his level stacked up against the game’s elite.

After all, practising with someone of Alcaraz’s quality is the perfect way to find out how far away a player is from competing regularly for elite honours.

The reaction was rather startling though, and emphasises just how far Cobolli still has to go despite the great strides he made in 2025.

He claimed: “The two hours of training with Alcaraz seem like 20′, when you do them with some other player it seems like 2 hours. He is obviously giving me a lot of advice and even if he doesn’t tell me I learn it.

“What do I have to improve in 2026? According to my team on everything. I consider myself very strong in some aspects, but I know that I have a lot of room for improvement and many things on which I need to improve a lot.”

Why Flavio Cobolli could be a threat in 2026

There’s a quiet expectation that Cobolli could turn into a genuine and consistent threat for Grand Slam and Masters 1000 titles next year too, given the way in which he stepped up for Italy at the Davis Cup.

After all, in the absence of both Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, he and Matteo Berrettini put the nation on their backs to carry them to a third straight title.

Cobolli has revealed his main goal for 2026, and it is certainly an achievable one given the upward trajectory of his career thus far.

It will be really interesting to see if Cobolli can keep adding to his game to close the gap between himself and Alcaraz.
